Job description

Under general direction and supervision of the Warden, the Labor Relations Analyst investigates grievances and prepares recommended second level Employee Grievance responses for review, modifications and/or approval of the Warden or designee. The position also requires the incumbent to perform analytical staff work relating to arbitrations, labor negotiations and issues related to employee Labor Relations and other labor issues traditionally monitored by the Warden. The Labor Relations Analyst will also act as a liaison between management and labor unions.
Typical duties will include: fact finding and grievance resolution duties under general direction/supervision of the Warden; consults with supervisors and managers (locally and at Headquarters) to identify and resolve problem areas in the area of Labor Relations; meets with job stewards and other union representatives and performs other analytical duties as required.

Dedicated on June 21, 1941, the California Institution for Men (CIM) is a large complex consisting of four separate facilities under the administration of one warden. It was California's third correctional institution and was constructed to relieve the overcrowded conditions of San Quentin State Prison (1852) and Folsom State Prison (1881).

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
