What You'll Do
In this position, you will be part of the Bureau of Labor Market Information (LMI). LMI is responsible for producing employment statistics and projections under the direction of the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
Y ou will serve as an analyst on the Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) program which is responsible for conducting a survey of employers and producing annual occupation and wage estimates. This position works independently and reports to the Labor Market Program Supervisor in the OEWS section.
• Conduct phone and email interviews with employers.
• Process survey submissions by assigning Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) codes to reported occupational information.
• Enter coded data into the OEWS database.

Pay Information
This position is in the State of Ohio's OCSEA Pay Schedule, Pay Range 30. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $23.49 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.

- Standard workdays are Monday through Friday. Hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
- Travel may be required for business purposes.
- In-state trainings and all-staff meetings are approximately three to four times a year.
- Out of state conferences are about once every two years.
- You may interview uncooperative, hostile, or upset people.
- You may spend significant time contacting employers by telephone
- Work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Manage competing deadlines.
- Work with large datasets.
- Make quick determinations with limited information.
Qualifications

- Completion of undergraduate core program in social or behavioral science to include 1 course in parametric statistics (e.g., regression analysis; normal distribution; analysis of variance; link relative)
- 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in application of social research methods which included 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in computer operations (e.g., Microsoft Office; Microsoft Access; Statistical Access; Statistical Analysis System [SAS]; Statistical Package for Social Sciences [SPSS])
- 3 yrs. exp. in social or behavioral science which included 12 mos. exp. in application of social research methods & 6 mos. exp. in computer operations (e.g., Microsoft Office; Microsoft Access; Statistical Access; Statistical Analysis System [SAS]; Statistical Package for Social Sciences [SPSS]).
- 1 yr. exp. as Labor Market Analyst 1, 66331.
- The equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for employment noted above.
