Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing the operating room for labor and delivery procedures.
- Sterilize and arrange surgical instruments for each delivery.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
- Provide support to physicians and nurses during cesarean sections and other procedures.
- Maintain a sterile field and adhere to infection control protocols.
- Monitor and anticipate the needs of the surgical team during labor and delivery.
- Assist with the care of newborns, including initial assessments and necessary procedures.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay updated on best practices and advancements in obstetric care.
Qualifications
- Requires High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Minimum of one (1) year recent hospital experience (or equivalent) in the capacity of an Operating Room Technician as OB Scrub Tech or OB Tech OR must have all of the following:
- a) received practical education at St. Johns surgical department within the last six (6) months
- b) above average performance during practical education and
- c) completion of a Surgical Technologist training program.
- Current CPR certification required
Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
- Successful completion of an OR Technician Training program and/or certification as an Operating Technician is highly desired
This position is represented by SEIU Local UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Pay Range
$29.42 - $36.78 /hour
