Overview:
This position will serve as an HR business partner to create, promote, and maintain positive Employee Relations by providing advice and support to Company operating units in the day-to-day management of both union and non-union Employee Relations, including the development, implementation, and administration of both Company-wide and individual operating unit policies, procedures, and programs.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide support and advice to all levels of management on the application and administration of all employee-related Company policies, procedures, and guidelines, including providing direct support in the investigation of employee issues and determination of appropriate performance development.
  • Review and evaluate all Employee Relations and personnel guidelines, policies, programs, and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Assist in interpretation of established Company and business unit personnel guidelines, policies and procedures to ensure fair and consistent application within the unit and across the Company.
  • Review requests for reasonable accommodation and engage in the interactive dialogue.
  • Assist with the administration of collective bargaining agreements where applicable, including the investigation of grievances, assisting management in the administration of the applicable grievance processes.
  • Develop and present training to employees and managers on Employee Relations topics, including corporate and HR policies, and legal compliance.
  • Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of the Company's employee and labor relations strategies in support of its business objectives.
  • Ensure the HRIS provides information necessary to analyze, conduct and administer human resources programs and plans.
  • Assist in the creation, modification, implementation, and administration of employee performance evaluation program. Actively work with employees and managers to address performance concerns.
  • Develop tools, templates, and programs to support positive Employee Relations.
  • Provide reports and briefings to management and leadership on employee and labor relations programs and initiatives.
  • Assist with Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action and compliance programs.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field (preferred)/or combination of education and experience in a human resources and/or Employee Relations role.
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience working in a Human Resources Generalist or Employee/Labor Relations role.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment and administering collective bargaining agreements is preferred.
  • Understanding of both state and federal employment law and regulations, Equal Opportunity Employment, OFCCP requirements, and ADAA.
  • Strong communication skills including listening, speaking and writing.
  • Critical thinking, organizational and analytical skills are required.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively to meet given time parameters.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with focus on communication and problem resolution.
  • Strong work ethic, reliable, self-motivated with a positive attitude.
  • Experience with computer programs/skills: Applicant Tracking Systems, HRIS, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and general internet applications.
  • Must be willing to work occasional odd hours including some evenings, and weekends.
  • Experience with developing and administering training programs is preferred.
  • Experience working with all levels of an organization preferred.
  • Airline or railroad industry experience is preferred.
  • Experience working in a multi-state environment, preferred.
  • PHR or SPHR certification is preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
  • Ability to travel required, may be up to 30-50%.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Repetitive motion such as: typing on the computer and phone work.
  • Minimal physical exertion such as: pulling, pushing, reaching, bending, standing, walking, and light lifting of boxes, bags files, and electronic equipment not in excess of 30 lbs.
  • Can involve long periods of sitting. Computer work, in a typical office environment for most of the day.
