Lab Technician - Night Shift

We have an immediate need for a full-time Night ShiftLab Technician to join our Quality department in Portland. This is an entry-level opportunity that is supported by a team that will train you to perform in our unique environment.
What you can expect to be doing:

• Performs ongoing laboratory and physical tests of dry blend batches as required to applicable standards.
• Performs troubleshooting on dry blend materials to determine the cause/causes of problems and recommends corrective measures.
• Take samples on the production line and test for density, color, etc. to ensure the product meets customer specifications.
• Performs ongoing color testing to ensure the product meets customer specifications.
• Interacts with the extrusion department and dry-blend department to communicate daily issues and pertinent information to supervisors and other employees as needed.
• Tests a variety of ingredients prior to use in the manufacturing process including resin additives, blending compounds, etc.
• Understands all materials utilized in the manufacturing operation.
• Understands certified materials and their use within the company.
• Sets up and operates all lab equipment for performing all laboratory and physical tests required.
• Performs tests on new formulas as needed.
• Maintains an inventory of all supplies needed for the lab.
• Completes appropriate logs and paperwork pertaining to the laboratory both manually and on the computer.
• Ensures housekeeping duties are performed in the work area.
• Follows all plant safety procedures in order to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
• Understands and follows all company policies, practices, and procedures.
• 2-week rotational 2*2*3 schedule: Sun, Wed, Thurs and Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat (36 hrs / 48 hrs)
• Night-shift hours are 5:00 pm - 5:00 am

What we are looking for in our hires:

• Our successful candidates are self-starters who are willing to learn!
• Have a strong work ethic - dependable and demonstrate good attendance
• Able to work a 12-hour shift
  • Our work schedule rotates every 2 weeks: 36 hours one week & 48 hours second week (schedule includes every other weekend)
• Working knowledge of MS Office Word and Excel
• Ability to calculate basic mathematical formulas
• Able to meet the physical qualifications for this position which include:
  • Lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Standing for an extended period of time
  • Lift, throw, bend, squat, twist, and reach
• Need to be able to read, write, and understand English
• Basic understanding of biology and or chemistry is preferred but not required
• Great attention to detail
• Lastly, have a positive attitude and be willing to assist others when needed.
