Position Summary:
This is a Lead position whose primary responsibility is to assist and support Quality Assurance management in activities involving data validation, tracking and trend analysis, and routine testing done in the lab. Provides leadership and gives direction to QA Lab Techs as needed. Has authority to place product, which does not meet specification on hold.
Position Authority:
- May Hold Product
- May Release Product, as approved by QA Management
- Maintains and updates standard curves for the chemicals made.
- Establishes monthly correlations between rapid and AOAC methods on lab equipment and between lab techs.
- Documents any necessary equipment adjustments or repairs and performs monthly equipment calibrations checks.
- Responsible for employee safety in the department and will assist in the development and execution of the lab safety training program for employees.
- Responsible for the sample product, and record retention programs for the department.
- Maintains complete and accurate records, monitors supplies, responsible for new employee training.
- Keeps the Plant Manager, QA Manager/Supervisor and Production Supervisor current on all department issues or concerns.
- Must comply with all safety regulations, attend safety meetings and follow all plant and safety rules.
- Responsible for additional duties as assigned which may include, wastewater testing, routine physical, chemical, organoleptic and bacteria testing.
- Make customer-required Certificates of Analysis when needed.

Qualifications/Required Skills of the Position:
Education and/or Experience:
- This position requires an associate degree and/or three to five years experience in Quality Assurance.
Language Skills:
- The ability to prepare, format, proofread and edit documents which are concise and professional.
- Must have effective oral and written communication skills, excellent telephone skills, and thorough knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Math Skills:
- This position requires quantitative skills and knowledge of math functions such as percentages, decimals, and the ability to chart numerical data appropriately.
Reasoning Ability:
- This position requires a high degree of self-confidence and maturity to make decisions that are required in day-to-day activities. Must be able to solve problems with minimal direction, be detailed oriented and have strong organizational skills. Must be a team player, who is able to react to change productively, be flexible, and accept changing assignments and accountabilities. Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
Computer Skills:
- Essential computer skills using Windows applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook and E-mail.
Work Environment:
- This position requires the ability to perform various physical activities such as heavy lifting (up to 30 lbs.) standing on concrete floors for extended periods of time, moving parts and loud noise. Must be able to work with sanitizers and cleaning chemicals. Must be able to work various shifts as assigned by Supervisor.
