Job Summary:
The lab/Research Assistant is responsible for performing delegated tasks to support the staff on clinical trial assignments.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Be the lab processing expert for ongoing trials, each with their own procedures and requirements for processing, storage, and shipping
- Perform phlebotomy as needed
- Review and implement each study’s laboratory manual
- Review lab requirements, tests, set up, and address queries
- Work with vendors to order supplies and set up local lab tests, normal ranges, and requisitions
- Maintain daily records of temperatures for drug rooms, refrigerators, and freezers
- Assist in scheduling equipment calibration
- Disinfect, stock lab and exam rooms daily
- Ensure lab certifications are up to date and regulations are followed
- Assist in performing ongoing quality audits of lab
- Prepare study charts based on a template prepared by the Study Coordinator
- Ensure charts are prepped for the next day including lab kit preparation
- File both study charts and study files
- Complete study logs
- Work with the Administrative Assistant to ensure Primary Care Physician letters are completed at the beginning and end of the trial
- Assist and prepare for monitor visits
- Update logs and statistics
- Collapse and archive completed charts
- Perform vitals, EKG’s, diary training and other study procedures as directed
- Keep all study lab kits organized and in stock- notify lab technician of any supply needs based on visit schedules
- Organize and track archived studies
- Set up and ship out sponsor specific ECG or EKG machines-ensure all equipment is processed/tracked by Technology Support
- Complete QA projects as assigned by QA Team.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by manager and noted on the delegation log.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must have lab processing experience
- Must have phlebotomy experience
- Bilingual – fluent in Spanish
- Able to maintain an organized lab environment as well as appropriate documentation
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to work independently
- Provide a comfortable and friendly environment for patients
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload
- Ability to communicate effectively
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma
- Clinical Research experience a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds
- COVID-19 vaccination required
Wage/Salary: $20-$22/hour
