We have an opportunity for a Lab Operations Manager in our Chemical Biology and Therapeutics (CBT) Centers in the Department of Chemical Biology and Therapeutics at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
The Chemical Biology and Therapeutics (CBT) Centers form a unique and integrated academic drug discovery pipeline using state-of-the-art chemistry technologies to focus on collaborative research with St. Jude investigators to further our understanding of biological mechanisms resulting from childhood diseases. The overarching goal is to translate this knowledge into new therapeutic opportunities.
The Compound Management Center plays a key role in cataloging, maintaining, and delivering the compounds to researchers from early drug discovery steps to pre-clinical studies. The Lab Operations Manager will oversee the replenishment, management, and fulfillment of the St. Jude chemical compound library, a unique collection of over 650,000 small molecules.
The ideal candidate for this role should have a strong background in chemistry, experience with laboratory operations and management, excellent organizational and communication skills, and a commitment to safety and compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Integrating automation platforms with other relevant systems for sample, inventory, tracking, distribution, and data management.
• Programming and troubleshooting liquid handling robotics platforms
• Closely work with HTB Director of Lab Operations (HTS automation) in developing, testing, and optimizing laboratory automation systems, protocols, and all related software tools.
• Manage the operation of fulfilling compound requests from internal research scientists supporting drug discovery efforts
• Manage inventory software, both commercial (MOSAIC, Cellario, CDD, etc.) and developed in-house
• Maintain the accuracy of the compound collection inventory
• Ensure proper compound inventory storage, registration, and usage records
• Manage the team responsible for the day-to-day operations
• Responsible for meeting timelines for compound requests and collaborating with scientists to meet requirements
• Manage the implementation of automation where appropriate to improve workflow and productivity
• Arrange support and maintenance for onsite instruments

Minimum Education and/or Training:

• Bachelor's degree is required

Minimum Experience:

• Seven (7) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required
• Five (5) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Master's degree
• Three (3) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a PhD
• Leadership or supervisory experience is required.
