We are currently looking to fill the position of Lab Coordinator with a starting range of $56,000 - $78,000/year, dependent upon experience, education, and skills.This position may have the opportunity for occasional work from home, but requires a full-time in-person presence.

 

 

The Lab Coordinator has overall responsibility for all operational aspects of the P28 Beast Lab and all remote labs to ensure exceptional medical educational experiences and overall efficient, cost-effective management under the direction of the Lab Manager. This is a hands-on position that routinely requires handling of cadaveric specimens, utilization of radiology equipment in accordance with all regulations, as well as set up and clean-up before, during, and post lab sessions.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensures operation of bio-skills labs and proper set up and breakdown of each lab.
  • Ensure all safety rules and regulations are met to AATB and OSHA standards.
  • Manage P28 products, PPE, general instrumentation and anatomical inventory.
  • Manage assigned budgets and calendar requests for labs.
  • Ensure the proper handling of all anatomical tissue.
  • Operate mini c-arms and additional imaging machines and maintain annual inspections of all onsite imaging.
  • Ensures the maintenance and cost-effective utilization of all lab facilities and offsite temporary lab setups as directed by the Lab Manager.
    • Works closely with the Manager of Medical Education and VP of Downstream Marketing to attend and coordinate additional labs from marketing and sales.
  • Aids Lab Manager with both on-site and off-site courses to include site checking facility for appropriate space for lab activities, ordering all supplies for lab PPE, Cadavers, tables/risers, lighting, visqueen, and AV set up as necessary; ensures all purchasing protocols are followed and aids with invoicing.
  • Establishes relationships with external vendors to maintain the working condition of the lab equipment, including but not limited to, c-arms, power sets and attachments, overhead lights, etc.
      • Conducts periodic reviews of vendor pricing and performance.
  • Keeps organization and cleanliness of all required laboratory tools, hardware, and tissue specimens for onsite cadaveric courses.
      • Manages cadaveric specimens used in the P28 Lab, including ordering, preparation, inventorying, and appropriate handling of used tissue in accordance with specimen provider, OSHA, and Paragon 28 protocols.
    • Procures CT scanned specimens for all labs that require Maven and Patient Specific instrumentation, additional requirements may be added as new products are developed within the Paragon 28 portfolio.
    • Ensures inventory of P28 Lab surgical instruments, personal protective gear, and lab supplies are available and prepared for use; orders and restocks supplies as needed; set appropriate par levels.
  • Creates and maintains logbook of all specimens for courses, event and projects to ensure judicious use.
  • Cleans and sterilizes P28 Lab and associated cadaveric tools, equipment/product trays used in on and offsite trainings according to OSHA standards for restocking, including aiding with marketing materials sets and working closely along side Marketing Material Coordinators
  • Sets up lab by arranging and staging/restaging tables and cleaning up post-course
  • Ensures waiver forms are completed and filed for all lab attendees prior to lab activity.
    • During all lab experiences, ensures participants adhere to proper safety and personal protective equipment protocols
  • Assists in mock surgical procedures as needed to help Clinical, Development, R&D, Executives, and Marketing teams as needed.
  • Travel to provide off-site events, tradeshows and lab support including but not limited to AAOS, ACFAS and AOFAS conferences, to support to the Medical Education, Events, and Clinical Affairs team as needed.
  • Work with Facilities Coordinator to ensure upkeep on the lab space, submitting work orders as needed to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist in loading dock functions (receive and ship items, maintain paper inventory of shipments, use of a manual pallet jack)
  • Aid in removal of laboratory waste (bio-waste, non-regulated and regulated medical waste) as needed
  • Receives and maintains trackability of cadaveric specimens
  • Other duties as assigned
 

 

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office/lab environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and lab supplies. Additionally, this role will routinely work in a lab environment and use medical lab equipment and will handle cadaveric specimens.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with individuals internal and external to the organization. The employee frequently is required to move about the facility. The employee may be required to lift up-to 30 lbs. by themselves. The employee will be exposed to freezer temperatures for cadaver storage

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with individuals internal and external to the organization. The employee may be required to lift up-to 30 lbs. by themselves. This role will also require extensive data entry and electronic communications.

Additionally, this role requires extended time in the mobile lab and therefore requires:

  • Ability to sit/stand/walk for extended periods of time (can be 8 hours plus), as well as bend/stoop/squat and balance frequently.
  • Ability to wear a 7-9 pounds of protective lead apron for extended periods of time while in lab, as well as gloves, gowns and eye protection.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

 

This is a full-time position that requires some non-standard work hours including weekends as well as time traveling, to accommodate the schedules of our lab participants.

 

Travel

50% of weekend work at our Colorado Headquarters or overnight travel to lab activities.

 


Qualifications

  • A valid Driver’s License.
  • High school diploma or GED plus 2 year’s related experience in the medical device industry.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in a regulated bio-laboratory is required, including:
    • Proper handling/prepping of human tissue
    • Safe handling of biologically contaminated product
    • Lab or clean room experience that meets AATB and OSHA standards.
  • Experience creating and maintaining SOPs, cadaver logbooks, and equipment maintenance logbooks
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills for interactions with all levels of organization and well as high level medical professionals.
    • Must be able to establish and maintain relationships with outside vendors and suppliers
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate laboratory materials and resources.
  • Willingness to participate in periodic training covering the P28 portfolio to enhance understanding of the surgical procedures and facilitate accurate reassembly of instrument trays upon lab completion.
  • Proficient in MS Office programs
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability and willingness to adhere health and safety procedures
  • Desire to make each surgeon experience exceptional
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree preferred; scientific field helpful
  • 5 or more years’ experience in a cadaver lab setting, orthopedic sales, or similar
  • Experience with SmartSheets, SharePoint, and SAP
  • Proficiency in the operation of Crestron AV system with sound and video integration from/sent to multiple sources
  • Go above and beyond to ensure successful lab activities
