COMPENSATION: $14/per hour + tips

HOURS: Weekend availability required, weekdays available

SUMMARYRetreat 21 is seeking an enthusiastic bar Support Staff to provide an excellent guest experience at our Taphouse. From assisting the bar to light kitchen duties (included but not limited to basic food & beverage preparation), you will be an integral part of ensuring our day to day service runs smoothly.

Retreat 21 is conveniently located on the edge of Columbus and Dublin, Retreat 21 offers endless adventure on 64 acres of rustic farmland. As a working cidery, we take pride in curating a unique selection of ciders, wine, and seasonal cocktails. We invite the community to enjoy our welcoming atmosphere, take in the landscape, and savor the moment. The event venue is open year round to host weddings, corporate events and social gatherings, and the Taphouse opens seasonally from May to October for visitors to enjoy the open air space.

POSITION

Support staff works on the floor, assisting the bartenders by ensuring that the bar stays stocked with liquor, syrups, glasses, napkins,and all other necessary items before and during service hours. Support staff will also be responsible for light kitchen duties, including the preparation of food & beverages.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare garnishes, refill ice wells, change beer kegs and restock napkins and straws
  • Clean up spills, remove glassware and organize the counter
  • Assist with emergency situations like clearing up broken glass and clogged drains
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, such as restocking the bar and ensuring the bartenders have the tools they need
  • Check taps and appliances to confirm they are working properly, make minor repairs, and change out kegs if needed
  • Keep the bar clean by wiping down surfaces, sweeping and mopping, removing glassware, scrubbing coolers and storage areas, and emptying trash receptacles
  • Preparing light food menu
  • Speaking to customers, answering questions and handling complaints

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education and/or Experience - High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) Ex: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. 1-2 years of management experience in the service or hospitality industries.
  • Knowledge – Basic kitchen skills. Support staff needs to be able to prepare garnishes and basic menu items (flatbreads) and help out in the BOH duties if needed. Heavy lifting may be necessary, including putting away shipments of liquor and beer and carrying kegs does require some strength. The Support Staff is going to learn a lot of on-the-job training, but it’s important that they possess a basic knowledge of liquors, spirits, beers, wines and flavor profile.
  • Other Qualifications – Courteous, friendly personality and professional appearance is required. Basic math and computer skills are preferred. Support staff must be strong problem solvers with good communication and interpersonal skills, being able to handle tense situations with coworkers and customers calmly and rationally.
  • Availability - The Taphouse is open to the public Wednesday through Saturday (3:00pm - 10:00pm) and Sundays (11:00am - 3:00pm). Weekend availability is preferred for Support Staff, with the availability to pick up weekday shifts. Support staff must be reliable and punctual.
  • POS Knowledge - Toast experience is a bonus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is to remain in a stationary position for 10 percent of the time. The individual needs to frequently move about the event space to access supplies, equipment, tools, and other necessary items to complete tasks at hand. Most of the activities involve fine and gross manipulation of items. They must be able to exchange accurate information with other individuals in the event space. They must regularly lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds. The individual must be capable of carrying and loading different supplies and tools required to do the job.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
