Tasting Room Kitchen Staff and Barback Job Description
Located in Hammonton, NJ on a 60 acre farm, White Horse Winery is one of New Jersey’s most awarded and recognized wineries. We have a beautiful tasting room and outdoor seating areas including firepits, seating over 150 people in total. We are open 6 days a week with live music and food trucks every weekend and mid-week events most weeks. Tasting Room Kitchen Staff / Barback are responsible for running the kitchen, including preparing wine paring boards, running food to tables, busing, cleaning the kitchen, maintaining inventory, stocking the wine bar, helping to clean inside and outside, and generally helping out wherever needed. There is no raw food handling. Our license does not permit that, only the artful assembly of cooked foods. Our food does get great reviews though. As with all of our staff, Kitchen Staff are responsible for providing excellent customer service to our guests. Working in the tasting room is similar to working in a restaurant except that we have a very limited menu (easier), much better hours, and happier guests (and happier staff).
In this instance we are looking for staff with both week day and weekend availability . Our weekday hours are Tuesday - Thursday 1pm-7pm. Our weekend hours are 1 to 9 on Fridays, noon to 6 on Saturday, and noon to 5 on Sunday. Shifts start and end about an hour earlier / later and Friday is broken into 2 shifts.
From time to time, their may be some 'heavy lifting'. All staff must be able to lift and carry 35lb cases of wine, sometimes several times a day. (It is a winery after all ;) If you cannot do that or do not want to do that, please do not apply.
It is a good low stress job with a great team of people. The base wage is augmented by a portion of the server's tips, so you'll do better than the base wage. If you are interested, I strongly encourage you to stop by the winery and see who we are and what we do here.
