This position is responsible for assisting the Supervisor in coordination of the daily responsibilities of the Kill Floor Department by insuring the Supervisor’s instructions are communicated to employees and carried out timely and correctly.
This position will also monitor all equipment to insure it is working properly and notify the Supervisor of any needed maintenance while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to the company policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities
- Provides assigned employees with direction, technical training, safety training, including quality and production policies and procedures.
- Determines proper arrangement of Line Workers.
- Interacts with other shift Line Leads to determine product importance and production set-up.
- Responsible for redirecting Line Workers during downtime and arranging for corrective action to get lines running per schedule.
- Ensures employees arrive to work on time, return from breaks and lunch on time.
- Provides a safe working environment through training and communication.
- Assists in determining proper arrangement of Line Workers.
- Responsible for backing up Machine Operators, Technical Operators and Line Workers.
- Collaborates with Supervisors and Maintenance Personnel, to determine equipment set-up and operations.
Works with the Quality Department to understand, recognize and rectify quality issues.
Job Requirements
Must have three years of Machine Operator experience. Must be mechanically inclined. Must be able to communicate ideas and explain procedures clearly to others. This individual will have the ability to work on various Production Floor Controls and Quality Systems. Must possess the ability to perform as a Team Leader, leading by example.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the activities of the team members in the production of quality products in accordance with established and accepted company criteria
- Implement and maintain safety standards throughout his/her area of responsibility as required by law and company policy
- Direct and implement job related training for all team members in his/her department while ensuring company job rotation minimums are met
- Utilize strong communication skills to properly coach and guide team members to resolve employee issues and ensures corrective actions are implemented and followed
- Create and foster a high morale workplace with the highest ethical standards by treating all team members with dignity and respect
- Manage the completion of production schedules as determined by the superintendent or designee
- Ensure all proper processing procedures (quality, safety, etc...) are adhered to and not compromised
