Kia Automotive Technician - Essential Duties
Able to perform all automotive maintenance & repairs, identifying problems using diagnostic equipment.
Desire to learn and work as a team
Paid factory & ASE training
Job Type: Full-time
40 hours per week, 1-2 Saturdays a month (8:00am - Noon)
Prior Kia training is a plus
- Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
- Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
- Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
- Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
- Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
- Road tests vehicles.
- Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
- Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
- Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
- Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
- Keeps shop area neat and clean.
- Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools, equipmentand manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
- Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
- Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Valid Illinois Driver's License
- Excellent driving record (no speeding tickets, DUI convictions, moving violations, etc.)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- High school diploma or GED required.
Environmental and Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- The physical requirements of the job include, but are not limited to: Sitting, standing, talking, walking, hearing/listening, bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and the ability to use power tools, a computer and telephone.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, be subject to extreme cold and extreme heat while performing the job.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
