Kia Automotive Technician - Essential Duties

Able to perform all automotive maintenance & repairs, identifying problems using diagnostic equipment.

Desire to learn and work as a team

Paid factory & ASE training

Job Type: Full-time

40 hours per week, 1-2 Saturdays a month (8:00am - Noon)

Prior Kia training is a plus

• • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Road tests vehicles.
  • Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
  • Keeps shop area neat and clean.
  • Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools, equipmentand manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• • • Valid Illinois Driver's License
    • Excellent driving record (no speeding tickets, DUI convictions, moving violations, etc.)
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
    • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
    • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
    • High school diploma or GED required.

• • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • The physical requirements of the job include, but are not limited to: Sitting, standing, talking, walking, hearing/listening, bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and the ability to use power tools, a computer and telephone.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, be subject to extreme cold and extreme heat while performing the job.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
