Kennel assistant duties include:
- Ensuring all boarders are well fed, clean and happy
- Letting dogs out to play in the yard
- Feeding and administering medications to boarders
- Walking/playing with dogs and cats
- Scooping litter pans and cleaning cages/runs of boarding animals
- Scooping poop in the yard.
- Cleaning chores around the clinic and kennel
- Admitting and discharging boarders
The appropriate candidate is a conscientious, detail-oriented, thorough, patient, compassionate, and doesn't mind getting their hands dirty (while wearing gloves of course). A love of animals is an absolute must, but is not the only requirement. You must be able to work independently but also be a great team member. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, and be able to keep clear and concise records and proficient with basic computer skills. Must be a self-starter with a proven history of reliability and trustworthiness. Experience handling cats and dogs is required.
Qualified applicants must be at least 16 years old, a high school graduate (or working towards it), and have a trustworthy means of transportation.
