Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The Kennel Assistant will be responsible for providing exceptional care to our furry guests, ensuring their comfort and well-being during their stay, as well as general hospital cleaning. Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care and attention to animals in the kennel, including feeding, grooming, and exercising
- Clean and sanitize cages and exam rooms to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to the veterinary technician or supervisor
- Assist with administering medications as directed by the veterinary staff
- Handle animals with care and compassion, ensuring their safety during interactions
- Assist with animal restraint for medical procedures or grooming sessions
- Maintain accurate records of animal care, including feeding schedules, medications administered, and any observed changes in behavior or health
- Provide excellent customer service to pet owners, addressing any questions or concerns they may have
- Maintain hospital cleanliness
- Daily/Weekly/Monthly cleaning routines
- Prepare exam rooms in the mornings and break them down at night
- Keep hospital areas/exam rooms clean and stocked
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with animals in a professional setting is preferred
- Ability to handle heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) and perform physically demanding tasks
- Knowledge of animal care practices and basic veterinary procedures is a plus
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for animals (mandatory)
- Ability to give/administer medications (oral, topical, injectable, etc.)
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and handle unpredictable behavior from animals
- Ability to use the following: washer, dryer, vacuum, mop, dishwasher
