Kennel Assistant

We are looking for an energetic, animal loving enthusiast to join our team at Flemington Veterinary Hospital! We are four doctor veterinary practice serving Flemington and the surrounding areas.

As a Kennel Assistant, you will be working with our experienced technicians and veterinary assistants to aid in daily cleaning and stocking tasks that directly affect our patient’s care! Whether you have experience in kennel work or are looking to get your foot in the door in the veterinary field, we are ready to partner with you!

The successful candidate will share our commitment to delivering exceptional service to our loyal clientele and the highest quality care to hospitalized pets. The Kennel Assistant position requires a candidate to not only have strong animal handling and people skills, but also an exceptional work ethic in a fast paced work environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting the doctors in appointments by restraining patients during exams, assisting surgery technicians with aftercare of patients, and tending to medical needs of boarded & hospitalized patients, cleaning/sanitizing, laundry, and inventory. Kennel assistant is responsible for opening and closing the hospital

This position requires someone who is reliable, on time, and enjoys multitasking and staying active. The ideal candidate would be looking for part time work (20-25 hours) with the potential to work more hours. They should have a flexible schedule that would allow them to work weekend hours and some holidays.

Qualified Candidates MUST:

• Be comfortable handling animals of all sizes and temperaments
• Be confident working in fast-paced environments
• Be able to multi-task and stay organized
• Be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs
• Have good communication and problem solving skills
• Have experience handling dogs and/or cats
• Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Be over 18 years of age
• Be able to work weekend (half day Saturday and care for boarders as needed)

Hourly rate to be discussed during the hiring process. It will be based upon and commensurate with experience.
