This position provides supervision of and care for juveniles who have been accused or convicted of one or more crimes. Ensures the security and safety of juveniles residing in the Juvenile Detention Center. Oversees the intake and release of juveniles, conducts searches, and handles physical interventions, when necessary. Provides care and welfare for juveniles by arranging meals, clothing, hygiene products and other necessities. Escorts juveniles to visitation areas, court, school, group counseling or medical visits. Mentors juveniles and designs programs that help them work off their community service hours and develop skills for future employment. Performs related duties as required.
Requirements:
Position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college. Must have the ability to earn a Juvenile Supervision Officer certification within six (6) months of employment. Training will be provided. Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Operator’s Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record. No previous experience necessary.
Must be able to work a schedule that includes some weekend work. Juvenile Supervision Officer schedules are 12 hour shifts, 3/4 days per week for a total of 84 hours per 2 week period. The hire process includes a polygraph exam and psychological evaluation.
