Duties:
- Responsible for the care and custody of children and youth within a detention facility.
-Provide supervision, structure, and control of the juveniles throughout their daily routines.
-Providing support services to existing facility personnel.
-Assisting in searches of rooms and other facility areas for contraband.
-Reacting to crisis situations within the facility utilizing appropriate de-escalation methods.
-Assisting in transports of juveniles to various locations.
-Properly documenting and submitting reports accordingly.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
-Minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university (transcripts/diploma required at time of interview) OR must have a minimum of one (1) year experience working directly with children in any of the following areas; programs with juvenile offenders, corrections, law enforcement, residential and/or congregate care settings, residential treatment facilities, and/or in-patient behavioral/mental health programs.
-Verification of past employment in writing required at time of interview to establish confirmation of above standards are met. (If not meeting the college credits criteria)
-Ability to pass a comprehensive background check including, but not limited to, PSP and FBI criminal records check and child abuse clearance.
-Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
-Understand and follow standard operating procedures.
-Perform duties in a professional manner and appearance, while exercising independent and sound judgement in decision making.
-Must possess basic computer skills
-Must possess a smart phone, capable of receiving emails, texts, and operate GPS.
-Must be able to read, write, and understand English. Bi-lingual is a plus.
-Any and all training and uniforms will be provided.
-Must have a valid license and reliable means of transportation.
