DYS is statutorily mandated to confine felony offenders, ages 10-21, who have been adjudicated and committed by one of Ohio's 88 county juvenile courts. The Opportunity…
DYS is seeking a Juvenile Correctional Operations Administrator at our Juvenile Correctional facility in Massillon, OH to oversee Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility (i.e., directs activities on all three shifts).
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- May act on behalf of the Superintendent & Deputy Superintendent to provide direct services, indirect & program services in their absence
- Serves as a mandatory reporter of abuse
- Supervises Juvenile Corrections Operation Managers assigned to all shifts (e.g., provides instruction & training, completes performance evaluations, investigates need for disciplinary action)
- Determines post coverage needs (e.g., identifies staff shortages & overtime, prepares, approves & reviews schedules, identifies daily work assignment, approves overtime procedure)
- Oversees safety & security of Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility
- Recommends institutional operational policy & procedure to ensure compliance with state, federal, & American Correctional Association (ACA) mandates
- Responsible for the coordination of major youth movements to outside locations (e.g. hospital, appointments, & court appearances)
- Ensures completion, reviews & completes daily logs & reports
- Will carry and is trained in the deployment and decontamination process of Oleoresin Capsicum pepper spray

Completion of undergraduate core program in business or public administration, social or behavioral science (e.g., social work, psychology, criminal justice, criminology) or law enforcement; 12 mos. exp. in supervisory, managerial or administrative position or in program management or program development; 4 courses or 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in labor relations/employee relations.
- Or 1 yr. exp. as Juvenile Correctional Operational Manager, 46582.
