Job Title: Junior Stylist / Sample Coordinator Reporting to: Photo Studio Stylist

The Junior Stylist/Samples Coordinator role is a hybrid position of much importance, combining set building, preparation of props, and assisting with styling. In addition, this role is critical in owning the sampling process that fuels the outputs coming from our in-house Photo and video Studio. This position will have a hand in the studio's daily workflow from start to finish. Not only will this role own the tracking of all product samples for photo/video, but they will also check them in upon arrival and keep them organized, then prep them for content creation, assisting the lead stylist on set during shoots and out bounding and archiving samples once production is completed. It is essential that this person not only is physically capable of lifting and maneuvering 50 pounds or more but that they are technically capable of managing projects in various digital tools we use to stay organized (including Trello Work Management System, Widen Digital Asset Management, etc.).


The mission of this role is to be the primary source of sample knowledge and management, as well as an element of organization on the team that allows everything to flow correctly. With time, we hope this individual's creative input can successfully style and execute full photo & video collection content captures.


This role has room for future growth in a highly competitive field, but also holds an invaluable mentorship opportunity. You will be responsible for supporting both the creative and e-commerce team in helping produce, deliver, and distribute high-quality content for our wide categories. We are seeking someone to join the team who has a creative eye, can recognize needs early in the process and work to address them, and is just a go-getter with a great attitude overall.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work as the point of contact to receive, review, and prep samples involving physical and digital archiving.
  • Use a digital tracking system to check in and report samples as they arrive.
  • Take charge of sample preparation – could involve steaming and ironing soft goods, cleaning glassware, arranging flowers, and polishing fruit – the needs are endless.
  • Keep all samples organized and set ready and ensure that samples are returned to inventory once photography is complete.
  • Build and paint studio sets as needed for upcoming shots.
  • Assemble furniture and props as needed for upcoming shots.
  • Assist Senior Stylist- Research in the latest photo trends and home décor, simple styling, prop shopping (online or in stores)
  • Style soft goods for e-commerce product shots with prioritized efficiency, attention to detail, and adherence to style guide specs.
  • Partner with our Photo Production Coordinator to maintain an understanding of our current and upcoming studio schedule.
  • Help maintain the organization of prop storage areas.



Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Comfortable putting together set pieces (walls, windows, doorways), painting, and using essential power tools.
  • A sense of design and style regarding photography and home design.
  • Efficient and effective communicator who can manage relationships across multiple departments.
  • Positive attitude when met with unexpected challenges or delays.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver up to 50lb, but possibly more with assistance.
  • Computer savvy; knowledge of Microsoft Office required. Fluency in other digital tools is encouraged.
  • Able to pivot when studio schedule changes due to urgent projects.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation for possible set material runs or prop shopping.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • Post-secondary education in a creative or merchandising program.
  • Experience working in a photography studio, film sets or theatrical environment, and understanding the needs and demands of Stylists/Art Department. Please provide a link to your portfolio.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe CS programs.
