Description

SAIC is seeking a junior Database Developers to support the new US Coast Guard Modernized Learning Management System.  This is a fully remote position with no onsite requirements. 

 

Junior Database Engineers duties include management of database systems, recommend standards, requirements, and guidelines for database management to customers. Assist in quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design and architecture, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security policy.

 

Specific responsibilities of the Jr. Database Engineer include:

• Working with clients to translate business requirements into a logical model that will accurately support and represent the clients entity relationship and flow of data.
• Integrates customer (USCG) databases to learning database.
• Protecting the database against threats or unauthorized access.
• Requirements Analysis, Data Analysis, Data Modeling and Database Design
• Developing the appropriate database framework to convert the logical model into a physical model including the creation and maintenance of schemas containing windows, screens, tables and columns and reports that support the model.
• Making recommendations to maximize operating efficiency, support storage requirements and vendor software updates, enforce data governance, ensure recovery is maintained.
• Participates in quality assurance and develops test application code in client server environment.
• Work in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Develop views, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and other database objects as needed
• Work closely with developers to understand the database needs and provide recommendations which are scalable and perform well

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

·         Bachelors and two (2) years or more experience; Masters and 0 years related experience, or relevant years of experience inlieu of degree

·         Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases: MongoDB, MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL.

·         DoD 8570 certification in IAT Level II certification or above (Security+ CE, CASP+ CE, CISSP, etc.) or ability to get within 90 days.

·         Must be a US Citizen and and actively possess a Secret clearance.

·         Experience working in AWS.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         AWS Database Specialty certification

·         Experience working on a team with Agile methodologies

·         Internal Description

Target salary range: $75,001 - $100,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
