Duties and Responsibilities


  • Assist Principal Investigator (PI) and co-investigators with conducting a project on the evaluation of new strategies to increase water use efficiency under drought conditions.
  • Conduct evaluations of soil water holding capacity, organic matter, soil nutrients, etc.
  • Design and install automated irrigation systems for different trials of vegetable crops.
  • Assist with overseeing connectivity for all aspects and goals of the project
  • Write reports and manuscripts for publication in scientific journals. Present research findings in conferences, seminars, and public meetings
  • Teach and/or mentor in the field of expertise
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Master's degree from an accredited college or university of recognized standing in soil science, plant science, or related field.
  • Facility in the techniques of the relevant field.
  • Accuracy, alertness, and adaptability.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Ph.D. from an accredited college or university of recognized standing in soil science, plant science or related field.
  • Two to four (2-4) years of experience conducting research running numerical models; conducting data analysis; and presenting scientific research results to scientific audiences and general audiences, writing technical reports and manuscripts for scientific publications.
  • Knowledge of automated irrigation systems for crops.
  • Knowledge of precision farming.
  • Knowledge of potential use of cover crops for soil and water conservation.
  • Strong record of publication
  • Experience in mentoring students at graduate and undergraduate levels
