General Job Description This is a hands-on position that will be an integral part of the accounting department and will focus on project accounting and client billing. The candidate would take ownership of the full-cycle monthly accounting and Billing process for a group of projects and project managers. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Project Accountant and Billing Specialist. High-performing individuals will allow the position to work remotely for a portion of each work week. Duties/Responsibilities Prepare monthly invoices (draft and final) for billable projects, supported by detail charge reports and applicable copies of expense receipts (for T&M projects). Utilize accounting system (Deltek Vision and EleVia's Electronic Invoicing) to drive the billing and invoicing process for contracts. Effectively communicate with Project Managers (PMs) regarding contract documents, change orders, modifications, approvals, and any requests related to billing. Resolve questions on invoices and interface with PMs and client counterparts. Assess and pursue opportunities to maximize client billing. Discuss unbilled amounts with PMs to optimize billing opportunities for the period. Follow up with PMs and clients on outstanding accounts receivable balances. Prepare special project analyses for the PMs and others. Perform additional assignments, as directed by the Director of Accounting. Qualifications This position involves Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree in accounting or a related field preferred. At least two (2) years of experience in the accounting field for a professional services firm preferred. Working knowledge of basic accounting principles. Skills - Technical & Personal Ability to work collaboratively across functional teams. Exceptional time and project management skills. Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality. Demonstrated aptitude in designing and maintaining electronic spreadsheets. Proficiency in MS Office suite; specifically MS Excel. Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and see tasks through to completion. Knowledge of Deltek Vision, Deltek Vantagepoint or other accounting software is a plus. Effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy, and reliability of financial/billing data. Strong time management and customer service skills Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Strong desire to grow as a professional in the accounting field. Persistent, questioning attitude and ability to accept that in others. Motivated to expand skills and knowledge, as well as tackle new problems and take on new responsibilities.
