Jr. Maritime Operations Manager
Location: Oakland, CA (On-Site)
Salary: $95,000 - $110,000 Annually
JOB SUMMARY:
As the Jr. Maritime Operation Manager, you'll oversee terminal activities, manage labor, and ensure operational efficiency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage hourly-paid employees through foremen and direct supervision of planners.
- Conduct interviews, make final hiring decisions, and handle work assignments, including scheduling and overtime authorization.
- Implement discipline per Collective Bargaining Agreements, investigate misconduct, and take corrective action.
- Distribute steady labor effectively, order supplemental labor, and apply union rules regarding dispatching and crane operator manning.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, coordinate with M&R, and manage vessel schedules and dispatch.
- Monitor vessel progress, communicate with agents, and prepare productivity reports for Senior Management.
- Direct, supervise, and analyze gate and yard preplanning activities to meet customer requirements.
- Manage on-dock rail activities, ensuring safety, production, and coordination with rail carriers and customers.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
- 2-5 years managing union labor, and knowledge of terminal operations principles
- Familiarity with safety codes, cargo stowage, stability, labor contracts, and local port rules.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license and acceptable driving record.
