We are seeking a talented Junior level Logistics Management Specialist to support our government customer in Huntsville, Alabama. As a Junior level Logistics Management Specialist, you will assist your assigned lead in managing daily logistical functions with focus on equipment accountability, supply requisition, transportation coordination and experience in the following areas.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and coordinate the ongoing logistical functions of the organization.
- Supporting the Logistics Management of the entire life cycle of a product, including, acquisition, distribution, services and training allocation, delivery, and final disposal of resources.
- Performs a variety of duties connected with requisitioning, receipt, storage, issue, maintenance, and turn-in of expendable, durable, and non-expendable supplies and equipment of various classes, and other types of mission related items.
- Experience with acquisition, disposition, and accounting for Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) or Government Furnished Property (GFP)
- Performs properly accountability and management.
- Participates in inventories and determines causes of discrepancies in count by checking transaction documents, such as purchase orders, equipment survey reports, transfer documents, and other available sources.
- Reconciles property record balances using property inventory balances.
- Performs document control work involved in the processing of supply transactions.
- Maintains and annotates files with minimal errors providing for easy and timely retrieval/location of material.
- Uses varied and advanced functions of word processing software to create, format, modify, edit, and print a variety of reports, memos, and other textual documents.
- Applies proper methods to ensure accessibility of items marked for storage, issue, inventory, and conducts inspections related to quality, quantity, and condition of materials.
- Receives written requests for issue of supply items and equipment from internal customers. Considers demand history, reviews information on requests for completeness and accuracy including valid item description, stock number, nomenclature, item codes, etc.
- Prepares requests for the purchase of non-standard items, verifies item description, characteristics, and quantities, research local market for best offer, forwards requests to the Purchasing office for purchase. Upon receipt of requested items verifies quality, quantity, and condition.
- Receives, stores, and maintains a variety of supplies and equipment in accordance with established policies.
- Prepares and processes requests for turn-in of serviceable and unserviceable excess items.
- Maintains and updates prescribed accounting file for all supplies and equipment, such as supply transaction files, document register, hand receipts, signature cards.
- Be familiar with Army and supply chain.
Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Serves as a transportation assistant, performing freight shipment and transportation support functions. Arranges for the most economical shipment of freight; processes associated documents; and performs various other tasks associated with the movement of materials to customers within CONUS and OCONUS.
- Prepares cost comparisons to determine most effective mode of transportation, as well as determine the low-cost carrier.
- Operates Material Handling Equipment (MHE) such as electric, gasoline and or diesel-powered forklifts. Loads, unloads, and transports material between locations.
- Responsible for loading, unloading, and securing cargo. Ensures the vehicle is not overloaded and the cargo is properly blocked and braced in order to prevent damage.
- Prepare shipping documents, such as Government Bill of Lading (GBL), Commercial Bill of Lading (CBL), and Transportation Control and Movement Document (TCMD).
- Exercises responsibility for the shipment of all Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT). Verifies shipper is authorized to ship HAZMAT and has documented proof of such authorization.
- Ensures clean and orderly condition of storage locations and security of materials requiring special handling including Hazardous Materiel (HAZMAT).
- Drives on public roads, streets, and highways, as well as on military installations.
- Ability to travel CONUS or OCONUS when required.
- Brief Senior Leaders on logistical status and mission requirements.
- Performs general clerical support work.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
