Junior Interior Designer (full-time)
Annie Elliott Design is a boutique, high-end residential interior design and decorating firm based in NW DC, and we are seeking a Junior Interior Designer. This is a full-time, in-person position. The position requires an undergraduate or graduate degree in interior design and at least two years experience in an interior design or architecture firm. Salary is commensurate with experience and industry standards.
AED offers paid holidays, paid vacation, health insurance, and an IRA match after one year ofemployment.
Candidates must have full facility in SketchUp and the Microsoft programs Excel (or Google Sheets), Word, and PowerPoint. Candidates must also have experience with or the ability to learn Studio Webware, our interior design software, quickly.
A car and valid driver’s license are required.

Job Description:
Junior Designer (Full-time, 40 hours per week)
The Junior Designer reports to the Principal Designer and must strive for 80% (28-32 hours) of
billable time per week. Salary is commensurate with experience and industry standards.
Design:
● Work closely with the Principal Designer and team to establish design direction, concept,
palette, etc. for each project
● Set up new clients in Dropbox and paper files
● Attend client meetings with Principal Designer and/or Interior Designer
● Take meeting notes
● Take photographs
● Manage presentation materials
● Enter meeting notes into Asana, with action items, assigning team members (including self)
and due dates
● Upload photographs into Dropbox
● Assist with Trade Days
● Hand-sketch floor plans
● Assist with taking site dimensions
● Take photographs
● Create floor and furniture plans in SketchUp
● Create sourcing lists
● Source merchandise consistent with AED’s design aesthetic from trade resources
● Add information to sourcing lists
● Obtain pricing and stock information from vendors and showrooms
● Calculate pricing
● Enter product information, photographs, and pricing into Studio Webware
● Generate RFQs and merchandise proposals in Studio Webware
● Obtain quotes by sending RFQs to tradespeople
● Create tearsheets in PowerPoint for design presentations
● Prepare materials for design presentations: print PowerPoints, create divider labels,
assemble presentation binders, trays, backup materials
● Assist with Installation Days as requested
● Check delivered items against list
● Inspect delivered items
● Direct placement of rugs, furniture, lighting, and accessories
● Assist with photo shoots, including carrying and transporting medium-weight objects such
as styling boxes, lamps, etc.
Scheduling:
● Maintain AED’s master calendar: schedule and confirm meetings with multiple parties
(designers, clients, vendors, tradespeople, etc.)
● Schedule work by tradespeople, which includes coordinating with clients and necessary
AED team members
● Schedule and confirm initial telephone calls and site meetings with clients
● Manage payments for client consultations via PayPal
Other:
● Answer the telephone and check voicemail daily. Forward messages to appropriate
colleagues via email
● Enter contact information of new showroom reps, tradespeople, and other contacts into
Studio Webware and OnePage (CRM)
● Open all packages sent to the office and deliver to/alert appropriate team members of
items’ arrival
● Break down boxes and bring to recycling bin on a weekly basis
● Run errands, such as returning samples to the Design Center, delivering small items to
clients’ homes, going to the Post Office, etc.
● Enter hours into Studio Webware at the end of each pay period (twice monthly)
