Job Description
Job Summary: The Junior Graphic Designer at Knox College plays a vital role in the Communications team by assisting in the creation of visual assets that promote and enhance the college's brand and image. This role supports various design projects, both print and digital, to engage and inform the college community, prospective students, and the general public. This is a remote position with occasional travel to campus for in-person meetings and professional development required.
Key Responsibilities:
Graphic Design: Assist in the development and execution of various design projects, including but not limited to brochures, flyers, posters, social media graphics, website graphics, email templates, and promotional materials.
Brand Compliance: Ensure all design materials align with the college's established branding guidelines, maintaining consistency and a strong visual identity.
Collaborative Work: Collaborate with other members of the marketing and communications team, including content creators, photographers, and web developers, to create visually appealing and effective materials.
Concept Development: Participate in brainstorming sessions and conceptualize ideas for design projects that effectively convey messages and information.
Software Proficiency: Utilize design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other relevant tools) to create, edit, and enhance visual content.
File Management: Maintain organized files and assets for efficient retrieval and use in future projects.
Proofreading: Review and proofread materials for accuracy, ensuring they are free of typographical and design errors.
Print Coordination: Prepare print-ready files and work with external vendors to oversee the production of printed materials, ensuring high quality and on-time delivery.
Digital Assets: Create and optimize graphics for various digital platforms, including social media, the college's website, and email campaigns.
Trends and Training: Stay updated on design trends and techniques, and participate in relevant training to enhance design skills.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Proficiency in design software, particularly Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
Strong understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout.
Basic knowledge of web design and user experience (UX) principles.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
