Position Purpose: Assist in the developing cost estimates and resource requirements for various types of substation utility construction projects ranging from 12 kV to 765 kV and Industrial projects.
Essential Responsibilities
§ Assist with the preparation of project estimates by reviewing drawings, scope of work documents, pricing schedules, and specifications provided by the customer and performing labor and material take-offs and cost history analyses to support proposal development
§ Assist project team in scoping of projects for engineering, construction, and contractual requirements
§ Assist with the development of construction and billing schedules
§ Assist with the development of standardized historical cost databases and application tools to aid future estimates
§ Research, contact, organize, and evaluate subcontractor, equipment, and material pricing provided by vendors based on project location
§ Attend customer pre-bid meetings at the project locations or customers office location
§ Perform physical or clerical tasks on various substation project sites during the first year to obtain required field experience

Qualifications
§ Prior electrical experience required such as hands on experience in the electrical trades, An Associate's degree in an electrical field of work, BS/BA in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Construction Management, or equivalent.
§ MJE is willing to train a candidate to estimate that has the appropriate previous experience in the electrical utility work, heavy industrial work, or past technical training/education in the electrical construction industry.
Work Environment
§ Must be willing to be temporarily assigned to a remote construction project for 3 to 4 months to obtain some field experience. Time spent on a construction site will vary based on the candidates former electrical field experience.
§ Must be able to remain in a stationary position over 50% of the time
§ The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc
§ Continuously operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, scanner, and computer printer
§ The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and coworkers and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
§ Occasionally lifting 20 pounds
