Job description

Aegis Aerospace is currently looking for a Research Archivist to join our team in Houston, TX.

Overview:

The purpose of this position is to support the Human Research Program's Life Sciences Data Archive (LSDA) project at the Johnson Space Center (JSC) under the Health and Human Performance Contract (HHPC). This position is non-supervisory, and the successful candidate will be able to confer with the other Archivists currently supporting the LSDA regarding how best to achieve the responsibilities and goals outlined below.
The successful candidate will be responsible for using his or her understanding of the intent, scope, and outcome of NASA-funded studies into human biology, psychology, and physiology, to curate the resulting data and findings from these studies. Much of the general information on these studies will be accessible via a public website (https://nlsp.nasa.gov) for both NASA personnel and the research community at large. Resulting human data may be privacy protected and therefore access restricted to approved personnel.
The successful candidate will, amongst other duties, be required to summarize these studies for the public LSDA website. This includes assembling and curating the data submitted by the investigator teams, with the relevant metadata generated from each study assigned. The data must be curated in a format that enables reuse in the future. Successful candidates must have an education or experience in the biological or data science disciplines to be able to perform the functions of this position.
Specific tasks of the position include, but are not limited to, developing research data submission agreements (RDSAs) with principal investigators, populating the LSDA databases with information and metadata captured in the RDSA and curation of the resulting datasets submitted to the archive. Other duties also include fulfilling data requests from intra-and extramural investigators requesting curated data for secondary use. Responding to these requests will require understanding the intent and scope of requests, working with teammates to shepherd the requests through the approval process and extracting data from the archive to create custom datasets. A knowledge of privacy laws and polices is desirable.
The LSDA includes a large information technology component; therefore, the successful candidate is expected to participate in developing software requirements and testing of the LSDA applications, which include a publicly accessible website and an internal content management system
