The Junior Data Analyst is responsible for providing support to the Finance & Accounting Data Analytics Team while acquiring knowledge & skill sets necessary to take direct ownership of managing, manipulating, and analyzing data for business units within Fortegra. Primary focus of role & tasks will be to leverage and strengthen statistical and technical knowledge by participating in reporting development and maintenance to serve the Finance & Accounting teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite/365 specifically Excel, Word, Outlook & PowerPoint
- Basic knowledge & understanding of data presentation applications such as Oracle OBIEE/OAC, Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau, TOAD Data Point and/or similar applications
Primary Job Functions:
- Become a data expert & acquire knowledge of the insurance/reinsurance industry with Fortegra through
- Providing support for the Finance & Accounting Data Analytics team including:
- Development & testing of detailed charts, reports and presentations as related to KPI’s and project results
- Producing ad-hoc reporting requests
- Performing & reviewing quantitative and statistical analysis
- Creating technical documents for requirements/design and internal communication
- Documenting project objectives, timelines, progress tracking, and periodic reports to stakeholders
- Collection and documentation of business requirements to ensure completeness of project plan requirements
- Account reconciliation projects including review process development, maintenance, &/or improvement
- Identifying opportunities to create & implement audit/control processes to mitigate potential risks
- Assisting with Oracle Maintenance tasks involving:
- Oracle chart of accounts and related parent hierarchy relationships
- Creating, maintaining, and terminating end-user profiles
- Code combinations maintenance
- Month-end interface file processes
- System upgrades and enhancement projects including scoping, business requirement documentation, testing, and issues tracking
- Other areas of focus & development:
- Work with Finance, IT, and other resources to define, develop, test, and implement finance data solutions and enhancements
- Assist in troubleshooting and providing support to the business end users, through analysis of data and/or application issues
- Contribute/participate in Corporate Finance & Accounting monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process
