Job description

The growth and diversification of the Power Business Line is a top initiative on both a regional and national scale. Our projects involve the design of high voltage infrastructure to support the upgrading and expansion of the electrical grid, design of wind generation sites, photovoltaic generation sites, and battery storage facilities.  

 

We are looking for a Junior Civil/Structural Substation Engineer to join our team in the Marlton, NJ; St. Louis, MO; or Chicago, IL office. 

 

What You Will Do

  • Perform the structural analysis and design of steel supported substation equipment.
  • Perform the structural analysis and design of shallow and deep concrete foundations for substation equipment and buildings.
  • Familiarity with RISA, STAAD, Mathcad and other structural engineering analysis and design related software.
  • Perform structural design calculations for steel and concrete structures.
  • Coordinate structural design with project requirements.
  • Develop structural details to be given to the CAD team for drawing development.
  • Possess a basic understanding of codes - IBC, ASCE-7, AISC, and ACI
  • Assist with other duties assigned by Lead Engineers and/or Project Managers
  • Perform field inspection of structures as needed for project scope.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis is required.
  • Must have FE Certification or planning to take FE exam
  • 1-3 years of professional experience preferably within an engineering consulting firm specializing in power generation or power delivery is preferred; relevant summer internships may count towards experience
  • Ability to coordinate with designers and engineers of other disciplines to complete deliverables
  • Experience with, or willingness to participate in, project site visits
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and develop strong internal and external relationships
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks independently
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working closely with other engineers and designers to meet with project timelines for engineering deliverables
