Job Description

About Midwest Services Group

We are a leading provider of quality energy infrastructure services, restoration, and vegetation management. We work to improve the lives of those around us by maintaining the integrity of America’s infrastructure.

How you'll get to contribute

Use your Civil Engineering degree to learn more about how to drive business growth and preconstruction processes for energy infrastructure projects.

What you’ll get to do

Be developed by the leadership team to become an Estimator. In this role, you will learn to:
  • Run the estimating process from initial bid preparation to final submission
  • Maximize project financial management and overall performance through comprehensive analysis and monitoring of project costs and alternative equipment, materials, services, and solutions
  • Drive estimation accuracy and project planning by actively engaging in site visits to gain practical insights and firsthand knowledge of field conditions
  • Facilitate client satisfaction and long-term business growth by crafting comprehensive cost breakdowns that emphasize the value of higher-quality options
  • Establish accountability, and smooth project execution by proactively communicating and bridging communication gaps with internal and external stakeholders
  • Share insights, project reviews, and lessons learned in high-level meetings and decision-making processes
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, codes, and standards by staying informed about changes that may impact cost estimation and project management practices
  • Optimize operational efficiency and effectiveness by identifying repetitive estimating tasks, documenting standardized procedures, and continuously updating estimating techniques, tools, and software

About you

  • You are a recent or soon-to-be Civil Engineering graduate with knowledge of how to calculate quantities, volumes, and measurements
  • What you lack in experience, you more than make up for in hunger and a desire to learn fast and win big!
  • You're the one in your friend group who can turn grocery shopping into an epic quest and waiting in line at the DMV into a social event
  • But, it's not all for show or clout. You've built lasting relationships that inspire trust and open communication
  • You consider yourself to be made up of equal parts confidence and humility. You know what you know, but you also know you have a lot to learn. And you're eager to learn it.
  • You're familiar with HCSS Heavy Bid or a quick learner when it comes to software programs
  • You are familiar with or interested to learn about heavy civil vegetation management

What’s in it for you

  • Meaningful Work - Energy infrastructure work, including right-of-way and vegetation management, plays a critical role in providing energy to communities. Proper construction management practices help mitigate risks, protect the environment, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, ultimately contributing to the long-term sustainability and reliability of the energy transportation system
  • Supportive environment - We want you to grow as we grow. That's why we provide continuous training and growth opportunities to expand your skills and earning potential. You'll work alongside a leadership team that listens and helps and a project delivery team that has each other's backs.
  • Well-being - Paid vacation and holidays, medical Insurance including vision and dental, life Insurance (+$10,000 company paid), disability insurance, flex spending, employer matched 401K, and a HIGH commitment to safety.

We are an equal-opportunity employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other protected status. We are committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within our workplace and creating an environment where all individuals feel valued, respected, and supported. We comply with all applicable laws governing EEO and affirmative action, and we ensure that all employment decisions are made solely based on job-related qualifications and merit.
