Eagle Summer Day Camp offers weekly theme- and activity-based camp experiences for rising first through seventh graders in the New Albany Plain Local School District. We spend our days on our BEAUTIFUL campus as well as attending field trips in the community. Our Camp Counselors ensure the safety and well being of campers through supervising and leading daily activities that encourage building a sense of community and making great memories.

New Albany offers a fun and memorable summer camp experience for families that reside within the New Albany-Plain Local School District. Summer Day Camp Counselors are responsible for supporting and/or facilitating large and small group camp activities for campers rising to grades 1-7 in areas such as imaginative play, splash day, sports, STEM/STEAM, games, movie afternoon, outdoor education, arts and crafts, and the arts. Camp counselors are responsible for the general safety and well-being of the campers. Counselors act as role models of respect and citizenship toward campers, colleagues, and the community. We make sure campers have the funnest fun around!
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school student in good standing,
- At least 16 years old by May 1, 2023
- Prior successful experience working with and/or supervising elementary-aged students preferred but not required
- Must be able to get in the pool
- Must demonstrate availability for virtual and in-person training on May 20 and June
- Positive attitude and lots of energy!
- Cooperative, pleasant, and dependable
- Can work independently with groups of children and within a team of co-workers
- Can work both indoors and outdoors for extended periods
- Commitment to follow local and state health and safety guidelines
Required Work Times:
- Staff Orientation (virtual plus in-person) Saturday May 20 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
- Camp setup/staff training/activity planning (in-person) Saturday June 3 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
- Monday-Friday, June 5th - August 7, 2023, excluding June 19 and July 4 and other pre approved vacation days
- Must be available to work at least 8 out of 9 weeks of camp (up to 5 days off per season)
- Staff meetings
Possible work shifts include (determined by program need):
- 6:45 am - 1:15 pm
- 7:00 am - 3:15 pm
- 8:30 am - 3:15 pm
- 1:30 pm - 6:00 pm
- 2:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Commit to work ESDC camp for at least 8 out of 9 weeks of camp
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with campers; assist with group management and daily activities
- Follow procedures to safeguard the health and safety of all participants
- Maintain confidentiality of participants
- Assist in the daily operations of camp, including but not limited to preparation, organization, and clean up of materials and supplies; planning a few weekly activities and "fun days"; recordkeeping; assisting coworkers as needed
- Assist students with special needs as needed
- Abide by guidelines and policies set forth by Eagle Summer Day Camp, New Albany-Plain Local Schools, and the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio
- Demonstrate a full range of motion to lift, reach, squat, climb, sit, walk, jog, swim or otherwise fully participate in any/all activities
- Supervise and interact with children outdoors for extended periods of time in varied weather conditions
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by coordinator, site supervisor, or lead counselor

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and stand; occasionally the employee will sit and/or run
- The employee may frequently bend or twist at the trunk while performing job duties
- The employee may frequently squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head, reach forward, and repeat the same hand motion many times while performing the duties of the job; the employee may be asked to get into a pool/join water activities
- The employee may routinely lift and move objects up to 30 pounds
- The employee must also work in an environment with varying noise levels, including extreme variations in temperatures
- The specific vision requirements of the job include good depth perception and occasionally being able to see objects/persons at a distance
- While performing the duties of the job the employee frequently is required to hear conversation in quiet, as well as a noisy environment and be able to tell where a sound is coming from
- The employee must be able to communicate with the team to give and receive directions
Salary:
$12.00 per hour, referral bonuses available

Coordinator of School-Age Child Care Programs, Site Supervisor and the Administration of the New Albany-Plain Local Schools
