Headquartered in Paducah, KY, Window World of Paducah is one of over 200 locations of Window World, Inc. Owned and operated by Mike Troutt, Window World of Paducah serves a myriad of counties in Kentucky and Illinois such as Ballard, Caldwell, Calloway, Carlisle, Crittenden, Fulton, McCracken, and more. We are continuing to grow and are currently in need of a full time Junior Accountant for our Paducah, KY office.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Junior Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting needs of the organization as well as any special projects that may arise.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performing routine clerical, filing, and data entry tasks for the accounting department including accounts payable, billing, and receivables.
- Coding and data entry of accounts payable while exercising the ability to prioritize and work independently.
- Ensuring uniformity and accuracy of transaction coding in the financial system.
- Processing weekly accounts payable checks to vendors.
- Verifying and investigating discrepancies by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements.
- Maintaining vendor information in accounting software as required.
- Understanding compliance issues surrounding accounts payable processes (i.e., W-9, sales tax, etc.).
- Assisting with the reconciliation of company purchasing cards and company spending accounts.
- Updating financial data in databases to ensure information is accurate and immediately available when needed.
- Performing balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assisting in the preparation of weekly/monthly reports.
- Posting and processing journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
- Designing, preparing, and maintaining spreadsheets.
- Assist the CFO to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and law.
- Performing other related duties as necessary or assigned.
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline, or an appropriate combination of education and experience (minimum 3 years).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline strongly favored.
- Two (2) years of direct accounting experience.
- Bookkeeping training/experience preferred.
- Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Ability to enter data accurately and efficiently into computer software/systems.
- Prior experience using database programs, financial software, and accounting computer application systems, is a strong plus.
- Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of software application and internet-based communications.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional communications skills, both written and verbal.
- Superior organizational abilities and capable of multitasking on a daily basis.
- Detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment.
- Flexible, dependable, and adaptable.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to/from the office.
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and a thorough criminal background check.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
