Position Highlights

The Linn County Circuit Court in Albany, Oregon, is hiring a Judicial Assistant(Court Operations Specialist) to join our team in the Court Operations unit.

In this role, you will provide confidential administrative support for a judge. In chambers, you will screen calls, visitors, and mail, respond to routine inquiries, establish workload priorities, track the status of cases, conduct data gathering and limited legal research, investigate and respond to difficult case management issues, update desk manuals, and maintain schedules, calendars, and complex dockets. You will also prepare and process correspondence, memoranda, opinions, and instructions and will review documents for accuracy, completeness, and grammar. In performing your work, you will interact with judges, management, court staff, attorneys, litigants, police officers, and jail staff to coordinate court-related activities.

Additionally, you will prepare the courtroom for proceedings. When court is in session, you will swear in witnesses, mark exhibits, help with jurors, maintain accurate written records, perform real-time data entry, prepare forms and orders, record proceedings using electronic or digital recording equipment, provide technical support for multimedia equipment, and ensure that the courtroom is secure. You will also create sentencing orders using the Uniform Criminal Judgment (UCJ) program in real time during court proceedings.

Part of your time will be spent attending statewide or local committee meetings as an OJD liaison, during which you will recommend improvements to court processes and procedures.

Although you will primarily support a specific judge, our Judicial Assistant positions are interchangeable and may be called upon to support other judges as needed. Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.
