As a Jr. NBA League Coordinator, you play a crucial role in providing young basketball players with a positive and enjoyable experience while fostering their love for the game and promoting sportsmanship and teamwork. Exclusively a part-time position that would work on Saturdays in April and May.
Responsibilities
- League Organization: You'll be responsible for planning and organizing the Jr. NBA Spring League. The league is for youth, ranging from elementary school to middle school age groups. This includes scheduling games, and ensuring all necessary equipment is available.
- Communication: Keeping open lines of communication with players, parents, coaches, and referees is crucial. You'll need to provide updates on schedules, rules, and any other relevant information.
- Rule Enforcement: Ensuring that games are conducted fairly and according to league rules is essential. You'll need to address any disputes or rule violations that arise during games and take appropriate action.
- Evaluation and Feedback: Regularly evaluating the league's operations and soliciting feedback from players, parents, coaches, and referees to identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications
- Need to be available to work on Saturdays in April and May 2024.
- Knowledge of Basketball: A deep understanding of the game of basketball is essential. This includes knowledge of rules, regulations, and best practices for coaching and organizing leagues.
- Experience with Youth Sports: Prior experience working with youth sports programs, such as coaching or organizing leagues, is highly beneficial. This could include experience with basketball specifically or with other youth sports.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills are necessary for managing league schedules, player registration, venue bookings, and other administrative tasks.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills are essential for effectively interacting with players, parents, coaches, referees, and other stakeholders. This includes written communication for sending out updates and schedules, as well as verbal communication for addressing issues and providing guidance.
- Leadership Abilities: The ability to lead and motivate coaches, referees, and other staff members is important for successfully managing a youth basketball league.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Being able to quickly address and resolve issues that arise during league activities, such as disputes between players or scheduling conflicts, is crucial.
- Attention to Detail: Paying close attention to detail is important for ensuring that league operations run smoothly and that all necessary tasks are completed accurately.
- Patience and Empathy: Working with youth sports can sometimes be challenging, so having patience and empathy is important for effectively interacting with players, parents, and coaches.
