Job Description
The Jr. controller must ensure the accuracy of the company's reported financial results and that they comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) standards. They are also responsible for cash management and risk management, and computer skills are essential in this position. The person in this role will maintain accurate accounting records, controls, and budgets to mitigate risk. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in reporting, possess excellent communication, analytical and management skills. Junior controller should be familiar with accounting software such as QuickBooks, as well as Air table programs, and should be able to assist senior controllers in formulating internal controls and policies and ensuring compliance with established standards. The Controller will improve operational efficiency by streamlining budgeting, payroll, reporting, and aid in the firm's continued growth.
Responsibilities
- Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
- In conjunction with the CFO, establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a bi-weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
- Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation
- Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or another related financial field required.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance role.
- Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis.
- Proven payroll experience, with focus on streamlining processes.
- Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Pay Range: Starting at $85,000
Pay range may be exceeded based on experience on a case-by-case basis.
