Jr. Camp Counselor | Summer 2024

Camp Curiosity & Curiosity Academy is located on a 50 acre farm in Doylestown, PA. We offer programs for ages Preschool - Kindergarten in our younger camp programs and Grade 1 - 6 and our Alumni Group of 7th and 8th graders in our older camp programs. Camp Curiosity is home of Curiosity Shoppe, Toddler Center, & Doylestown Pickleball.

Do you love working with children? Are you looking for a seasonal summer job that is fun and fulfilling? Camp Curiosity is looking for energetic and team-oriented Jr. Camp Counselors to join our team for the 2024 season.

The role of the Jr. Camp Counselor is to provide a fun, safe and memorable experience for the campers. They will be responsible for the safety and well-being of the campers with the assistance and guidance of the Camp Director, Assistant Director, Camp Supervisor, and Camp Counselors. The Jr. Camp Counselor will work closely with the Camp Counselors to ensure the group attends and actively participates in the variety of camp activities.

Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm; Shifts determined upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist Camp Counselors in camp groups with children ranging in age from 6-12. All groups are divided by age with appropriate ratios.
• Help the assigned group move between activities based on his/her group's assigned weekly schedule.
• Assist in organizing and leading a variety of small and large group activities each week. Activities may include crafts, nature, songs, games.
• Work together with Camp Director, Assistant Director, Camp Supervisor, and co-Counselors to engage campers and maintain a positive, fun environment.
• Actively participate in all camp activities, including swimming and special events/guests.
• Identify and report camper behavior issues to counselors.
• Ensure that the site is kept clean, sanitized, organized, and free of litter.
• Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
• Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas, including but not limited to being responsible for your campers’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.
• Be flexible and fill in where needed.

• Must be at least 16 yrs old. (18 and older apply to the Camp Counselor position).
• Prior work and/or childcare experience.
• Enjoy working with children.
• Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities.
• Ability to work with others in a team environment.
• Ability to accomplish tasks with independence, motivation and responsibility.
• Ability to resolve conflicts and creatively solve problems.
• Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
• Pediatric First Aid & CPR Certifications and/or Lifeguard/WSI Certifications at time of hire or able to obtain one month before the camp start date. (Camp Curiosity will be hosting certification).
• Must be able to obtain Background Clearances, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearances, and Mandated Reporter Training (will change with regulations)

Camp Curiosity will be hosting a CPR and Lifeguard Certification class June 2024, dates TBD.
