Journeyman (Pipe Fitter/Welder)

D. H. Griffin Contracting Company Inc., Journeyman Pipefitter uses their knowledge and skills for the construction, maintenance, fabrication and installation of mechanical piping systems according to layout plans, blueprints, or other drawings. .

Responsibilities: 

• Minimum of 4 years of pipefitter experience
• Ability to read and understand drawings, blueprints, schematics, e-plans and specifications.
• Fabricate and install mechanical piping, support and assemblies using various hand, power tools and heavy lifting equipment
• Heavy and complex rigging knowledge and experience
• Cut, weld and shape piping to match drawings and specifications
• Layout and leveling of piping, assemblies and supports
• Ability to work unsupervised for extended periods of time
• Must adhere to safety policies and be a champion of safe work practices and policies.

Skills: 

• Strong knowledge and understanding of CAD/P&ID drawings
• Analyze and understand blueprints, layout plans, and schematics
• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with vendors, co-workers and customers
• Ability to measure, calculate and apply geometric concepts
• Ability to operate heavy machinery and aerial lifts to perform job duties
• Rigging certification preferred, but not required
• OSHA 10 preferred, but not required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, talk, hear, and concentrate on and observe the activities employees are engaged in in order to help them safely perform their duties in an often busy, noisy, dirty, environment in which heavy equipment is operating.  The employee regularly operates a company vehicle on public roadways.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those employee encounters while performing the essential functions of his job.  The primary work environment is a manufacturing and/or construction job site setting.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high and/or precarious places; and fumes and airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
