Position Summary:
Manhattan design school seeks New York tri-state area Jewelry Design Grader to evaluate student projects from their home. This is a part-time/freelance position. We are looking for Jewelry Designers who have approximately 6-8 hours per week available to evaluate student work, and a minimum of five years working as a professional jewelry maker selling your own work.
This course teaches the foundations of cold connection techniques only. Techniques taught are wire wrapping, forging, knotting, bead weaving and some others, along with the knowledge of photographing and selling work. The course takes 1-2 years to complete. Knowledge of hand crafting jewelry techniques, photographing work and selling work is a required. An understanding of metalsmithing is a plus but not required.
Our students are beginners and advanced amateurs, so it is necessary to mentor these students and help them master the principles of Jewelry Design following our course curriculum that we will train you on. You’ll make an audio recording that will be uploaded to the course as feedback on the submitted projects.
Pay is $13.50 per review, and you choose how many units you would like to grade per week. Evaluations are made as digital audio recordings so a clear speaking voice and the ability to express your thoughts clearly are very important. Access to a computer and the internet is also needed.
Essential Job Functions:
- Objectively and accurately evaluate subjective exams, proctored exams, and projects against established grading keys and rubrics
- Provide clear and effective feedback to students
- Complete the necessary steps to ensure that grades are properly recorded with the school
- Correspond with students as may be required by the exam evaluation
- Graders may provide input to instructional staff regarding areas of student difficulty
- Graders may be asked to develop grading rubrics as directed by the instructional staff
- Participate in special grading projects which may be required by the instructional staff
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Hands on jewelry making skills with at least five years’ experience creating and selling work
- Proficient with techniques such as wire wrapping, forging, knotting, and bead weaving
- Teaching experience is preferred but will train the right candidate
- Include a link to a site or portfolio page of work to be reviewed
