HERE Japanese Language Annotator
SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Annotation is the foundation of how we at HERE Technologies analyze and improve upon our mapping software. There are many different forms of annotation, which can include: 1) determine the possible intent of map user-entered map searches, 2) determine the value of a map result listing, and 3) confirm information about a place using web-based research.
The HERE Japanese Language Annotator position requires detailed analytical and web-based research skills. This includes on-line resources like official websites, review sites, web searches, mapping street view, etc as part of the annotation work. HERE Japanese Language Annotator requires reading and writing literacy in Japanese for language specific annotation work.
This position is part-time and remote that includes paid-time off, family health time off, holidays, and the potential for additional hours depending on your work performance.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to rate the quality of point-of-interests (POI) returned by HERE maps. Annotators must be able to clearly articulate their logic and reasoning behind their ratings in written form.
- Perform comprehensive online research as part of your annotation by using a variety of different resources to discover the ground truth of a POI.
- Perform data quality checks on the various POI associated attributes in our mapping database.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
All annotation work is done remotely from your home using a HERE-specific website. Annotators will undergo task-specific annotation training. Your work will be reviewed by higher-level annotators known as mergers and there will be in-depth assessments every quarter. Most of your work will be done on your own schedule set by yourself and done independently.
SCOPE
An Annotator is an Individual contributor. Annotators work independently and remotely. Some workers, after high-performance assessments, are trained as mergers who will do higher level annotation. This includes reviewing other annotator’s work, providing final rating choices, and providing feedback to other annotators as necessary. This long-term position is expected to take 19-20 hours each week with flexible work hours as determined by the annotator.
IMPACT DECISION MAKING
Workers make decisions based on the utility provided by the HERE map search responses, or the correctness of the attributes associated with a POI. Collectively, the annotation data allows HERE developers to make informed changes to our HERE mapping software. Without annotation, we cannot measure the quality impact of HERE maps software development.
