We are looking for a hard-working Janitorial Team Lead to join our janitorial team. In this role, your main tasks involve leading team to perform cleaning tasks such as cleaning floors, washing walls, disposing of garbage, performing routine maintenance, and inspecting the premises. You should have some janitorial experience or be familiar with the safe use of sanitation products and equipment. Our ideal candidate is a team player who takes pride in doing a good and thorough job for each client.
At ScrubCan Inc. we service government buildings, schools, offices and industrial spaces by filling multiple customer needs including janitorial services, solar cleaning, pressure washing, facility maintenance, and landscaping. For this position, all employees will be trained to become a Janitorial Technician in order to complete day to day customer needs and ensure that the best work quality is being given on the job. Must be able to work independently and with little supervision, be highly detail oriented, quality conscious & have good communications skills to be successful in our company culture.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Leads by example for other employees.
- Ability to lead a team of 3-4 people to complete the tasks in a timely manner.
- Sets the tone and motivates employees on professionalism, organization, and efficiency.
- Helps implement coaching with the Director of Janitorial Operations.
- Shares ideas and perspectives on how to improve efficiency and operation with the Director of Janitorial Operations.
- Follows the company's process to assure that the services are completed at the established standards.
- Works closely training new employees and employee development.
- Leads a team and discusses areas of improvement at the beginning of the shift.
- Provides on-site supervision for front line employees: reports injuries, disciplinary issues and HR concerns to the Director of Janitorial Operations.
- Able to control work environment.
- Responsible for the job pace, organization of team, employee breaks and lunch times.
- Produce quality work within pre-set time frames.
- Use protective equipment correctly such as safety glasses and gloves when appropriate.
- Follow and complete a job schedule within the time frame allowed.
- Perform other cleaning duties as specified in the schedule or requested by the Director of Janitorial Operations.
- Lift 50 pounds unassisted up and down a full flight of stairs. Perform physical activity associated with general cleaning.
- Flexibility (Relief/Floating in different areas or other nearby buildings) required.
- Identify potential safety or maintenance issues and communicate them to the client in the comments section on the customer checklist.
- Arrive at work (client location) at the scheduled time, perform services to established standards and ensure the client’s facility is locked and secured when you finish.
- Clock in and clock out the proper locations and scheduled times.
- Handle special requests for customers as appropriate.
- Have technology knowledge to be able to complete daily task checklist.
- Assuring that employees are clocking in and out at the correct time and location.
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures relating to the performance of tasks, use of products or supplies, and incident reporting.
- Be willing to train and enhance knowledge in assigned duties.
- Perform all tasks to the standards established by ScrubCan Inc. Common tasks include:
- Dust furniture, equipment, partitions, walls, etc.
- Clean and disinfect sinks, countertops, floors, toilets, mirrors, tables, chairs, refrigerators, microwaves, etc in restrooms, break rooms, and/or kitchenettes
- Replenish supplies in restrooms, break rooms, and kitchen
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and/or hand scrub floors using brooms, mops, and vacuum cleaners
- Empty trash cans and recyclables into disposal areas
- Wipe down walls and woodwork, doors, wall hangings, baseboards, etc.
Requirements:
- You must have a valid CA driver’s license and a reliable means of transportation.
- Must be reliable, team-oriented, dependable, trustworthy, and have a strong work ethic.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check, fingerprint-based criminal background check, physical (cost of physical examination rests on the applicant), and drug testing.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Physical demands include walking and standing, climbing, bending, kneeling to clean floors by hand, push and pull objects, lift and move objects (including 20 lb vacuum), repetitive bending and lifting, and repetitive arm movements.
- Uniforms and work identification badge provided by ScrubCan must be worn during work hours
- Must have a working phone to be able to download company apps.
- Must have leadership experience.
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - ability to speak and write English fluently and relay information between the team, customers, and office staff.
- Detail-oriented – pays attention to details at each customer’s location, with extra attention to special requests.
- Friendly and Professional – able to deal with customers when they are on-site while cleaning is being performed
- Team player – Ability to work within a team where members depend on each other to get work done.
- Self-starter - able to identify work that needs to be done and do it without being instructed.

Education / Experience:
High School Diploma required.
Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience.
