Janitor/Custodian

Position Summary: Performs custodial work in offices, lounge, daycare, fitness areas and other building interiors. May assist in exterior cleaning as needed. This is a part-time position and will be approximately 20-30 hours per week, with flexibility desired.

Essential Functions:

1. Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors using industrial vacuum cleaners, scrubbing and buffing machines on a periodic basis.

2. Removes trash from offices and common areas daily. Safely disposes of waste according to accepted practices and company procedures.

3. Dusts and washes various working and storage file surfaces and containers on a periodic basis.

4. Moves furniture, boxes, file cabinets, equipment, etc. to clean surfaces using appropriate material handling techniques and equipment.

5. Performs minor repair and touch up work i.e. painting, bulb replacement.

Other Functions:

1. Seasonal exterior clean-up, i.e. mowing, shoveling, raking, sweeping etc.

2. Requires safe handling of cleaning agents (ex. Caustics and solvents) for use and disposal.

3. May perform other duties as assigned depending on training and ability.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education: HS or equivalent, may substitute experience for education

Experience: 0 – 1 year cleaning/ housekeeping.

Specific Skills: Read and write English, follow verbal and written instructions and directions.

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.: Cleaning and hygiene practices. Safe lifting procedures.

Working Conditions: Varied interior and exterior environments which may be weather dependent. Occasional physically demanding duties which may require the use of ladders, material handling devices and cleaning agents.

Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour
