It is the responsibility of the JAG Specialist to provide relevant and challenging classroom and work-based learning experiences for 40 participants who are committed to developing their personal, leadership and employability skills to ensure graduation from high school and positive post-graduate outcomes. The in-school outcomes are achieved through the attainment of 37 core competencies, involvement in the Career Association, and a supporting adult who helps overcome barriers to success. Understanding the importance of accountability, the JAG Specialist uses the National Data Management System - a database program placed on the computer that will be used to track participants, services delivered, and outcomes achieved. The ultimate outcome of the JAG program is to place graduates in quality jobs (after graduation) which lead to a career in their chosen field or to guide the graduate toward a postsecondary education that fits their career goal. After placement, the JAG Specialist will be responsible for no less than monthly contact with graduates (and non-graduates) and no less than five employer follow-up contacts over the 12-month follow-up period. The JAG Specialist will provide assistance to the non-graduate to complete high school graduation requirements or a GED certificate and provide graduates with employment, retention and advancement assistance during the 12-month follow-up phase.
