Itinerant Special Education Teacher

Primary purpose:
To create a flexible program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for student education in accordance with each student's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
Responsibilities:
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:

• Serves as the Teacher of Record for non-public and homeschool students in the corporation and/or additional buildings as assigned.
• Works with non-public schools staff to provide intervention for students in their RTI process.
• Consults with teachers, staff, and parents on accommodations and modification of the general education curriculum based upon a variety of instructional techniques and technologies.
• Plans and writes individual educational plans and Service Plans (for non-public and homeschool students) designed to meet student's needs and conform to state and federal laws.
• Progress monitors goals of students on caseload.
• Confers with parents, administrators, school psychologists, social workers, and professionals to develop individual educational plans designed to promote students' educational, physical, and social development.
• Participates in all appropriate Case Conference meetings.
• Follows legal requirements as dictated by state and federal statutes.
• Instructs individuals and groups in Special Education skill areas as required.
• Plans curriculum, lessons, and Special Education programs and teaching methods as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications:
A. Bachelor's Degree in Education from accredited university.
B. Indiana Teaching License.
C. Experience is preferred, but not necessary for hiring.
