The Opportunity
The Legislative Service Center, also known as LEG-TECH, is the Washington State Legislature's IT service and support resource. We provide the Legislature with a full range of services, including network and system administration, custom application development, training, and direct customer support.
We seek a full-time IT Training and Documentation Coordinator as part of our Customer Support Group. This exciting position will appeal to someone comfortable with training development and delivery, as well as strategic planning and program development.
In this role, an average day for you could include teaching a class on an off-the-shelf or custom legislative application; collaborating with legislative staff to design a new course to meet a specific business need; supporting the Learning Management System; or writing Training and reference documentation.
The ideal candidate has IT training experience, including knowledge of curriculum design, adult learning principles, and the legislative process. They are enthusiastic and foster a supportive, positive work environment. They are eager to meet today's challenges and position the program for long-term success.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain written and online training materials, such as cheat sheets, FAQs, tips and tricks, training videos, etc., to support legislative staff training
  • Deliver group and individualized in-person and remote instructor-led training to ensure legislative staff proficiency with their required applications and related processes
  • Manage the training schedule to support the hiring and training demands for new and existing legislative staff
  • Collaborate with Legislative Training Coordinators and internal LEG-TECH Product Owners to develop highly effective training materials and learning options
  • Develop and maintain an IT documentation repository to ensure legislative staff have accurate and up-to-date Training and reference materials
  • Perform needs analyses using available data and evaluate training program results to improve learning effectiveness and deliver results continuously
  • Participate in implementation and transition to new applications and upgrades as needed and perform testing on applications during implementation and maintenance phases
  • Demonstrate respectful, professional, and appropriate behavior that supports a team-oriented work environment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • A bachelor's degree OR an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • At least five years' experience delivering IT application training
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles and best practices
  • Knowledge of adult education principles and the uniqueness of adult learners
  • General understanding of the Washington State Legislature and the legislative process
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with agency and legislative staff
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others
  • Ability to perform accurately and efficiently under time constraints
Other Requirements
  • Occasional, long, or irregular hours may be required during the legislative session, including evening and weekend work.
  • The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United States without Visa Sponsorship.
  • The successful candidate must be a resident of Washington State or willing to relocate.
Note: Some job duties require a physical presence on the Capitol Campus, and mandatory onsite shifts may be required for projects and support coverage. However, telework is supported and encouraged in this role whenever an onsite presence is not needed. EMPLOYMENT

SALARY RANGE
The starting salary range for this position is $75,900 - $103,416 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

SELECTION PROCESS
If a candidate reaches a second interview, they will be asked to do a brief writing exercise and a presentation/training session. The topic will be determined when the interview is scheduled to allow adequate preparation time.
