General Statement of Duties:
The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day monitoring, quality control, system configuration, trouble-shooting, technical documentation, policy management and general management of the data center. The position manages a comprehensive physical and virtual server environment and maintains networked storage and high availability. The position has a strong Security and HIPAA compliance focus. The IT System Engineer is also required to participate in the 24x7 on-call rotation as a member of the IT Department.
Essential Duties:
- Manages comprehensive physical and virtual environment.
- Manages and maintains networked storage and high availability.
- Assists network engineers with server/network configuration for existing and new environments.
- Acts as an escalation point for the Service Desk.
- Supports daily maintenance and problem resolutions, operating system patches, software upgrades, routine hardware configuration, and related firmware updates.
- Suggests and provides IT solutions to business and management problems.
- Works with multiple vendors to design key solutions.
- Assists in preparation of proposals and solution presentations.
- Creates and maintains detailed documentation for all implemented systems.
- Participates in 24x7 on-call rotation.
Requirements:
- Associate's Degree in related field required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- One Advanced Infrastructure Certification (e.g., MCSE, CCNA, VMWare, etc.) required; two preferred
- 6-8 years of related experience required
- Preferred 2-4 years of Systems Engineering experience
