Systems Engineer/It Specialist

Systems Engineer/IT Specialist needed for a direct hire/full time position for our client located in Jeffersonville, IN.
Position Summary: The Systems Engineer / IT Specialist will be responsible for administration, engineering, and Tier 3 level support of a data center and network environment of 70+ mostly virtualized servers at multiple locations utilizing MS Windows, Cisco, VMware, Horizon VDI, and other high level technologies. This position will require working with all Information Technology responsibilities and IT department personnel. This position coordinates with all departments, locations, and levels of the organization including external customers.
Specific Responsibilities/Examples of Duties:

1. Administers all aspects of network management including all hardware and software, VMware ESXi and Vsphere infrastructure, Cisco network infrastructure, server infrastructure, licensing, Active Directory, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity, upgrades and patches, routine and preventative maintenance, network monitoring, troubleshooting, system documentation, and hardware and software purchasing.
2. Administers, and engineers all network security, including file security, network monitoring, firewalls, VPN, wireless, and VDI security etc.
3. Manages VMware Vsphere equipment and software.
4. Manages Horizon View VDI, UEM, Appstack, Thinapp, and thin/zero client technology.
5. Provides Highest level of troubleshooting and problem resolution.
6. Gives secondary support for desktop hardware and software.
7. Works as a team member with other technical staff, such as networking to ensure connectivity and compatibility between systems.
8. Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
9. Works successfully with little supervision
10. Independently solves problems by exploring alternatives and selecting the appropriate solution.
11. May assist in creating ad hoc and company reports using MS SQL Query and Crystal Reports.
12. Supports telephony, including IP phone systems and cell phones.
13. Supports MDM system for cell phones.
14. Recommends hardware, software and general technology purchases.
15. Works directly with outside vendors and contractors for equipment purchase and project coordination.
16. Investigates and recommends technology options for the benefit of the client.
17. Assists personnel of other departments as a computer resource.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology related field or Associates degree and combined work experience; Minimum 7 years' experience with Cisco networks and VMware technology; and current CCNA or MCSE certification or proven equivalent. VMware certification or proven experience

• Extensive knowledge and experience with VMware and Horizon View configuration, implementation and management; Cisco router, firewall, 802.1x wireless, ACLs, NAT, IP Routing and switch configuration, implementation and troubleshooting; Windows networking, infrastructure design and implementation, and troubleshooting; VLAN configuration and administration, Server implementation and management. SAN Storage Design, iSCSI, implementation and management. SharePoint 2013 Experience
• Ability to install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot networks and network equipment, VMware Vcenter, ESXi Servers, VDI pools, and related hardware and software, ability to learn and support new systems and applications, knowledge of network and computer security procedures and protocol, ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions, and ability to negotiate hardware/software service and technical support contracts with vendors.
• Experience with Webfilter configuration and policy management.
• Experience with Spamfilter configuration and policy management.
• Certification or proven experience with: Windows server 2008; 2012,2016 MS Exchange 2007, 2010 or above; Active Directory; VMware 5.x; VMware Horizon View 6.0, Backup Exec; anti-virus; 802.1x wireless technology and security; Veeam Backup, Datadomain Backup technology. SolarWinds monitoring/alerting.
• Minimum 1 years Cisco network infrastructure design and configuration.
• Minimum 7 years VMware infrastructure design and configuration.
• Minimum 7 years Active Directory design and configuration.
• Minimum 7 years Server / Datacenter Infrastructure design and configuration.

2. Special Skills/Job Knowledge/Abilities:

• Extensive knowledge and experience with VMware; VDI, VMware Persona , UEM Management,, SSL Certificates, IIS, PowerShell Scripting
• In dept knowledge of Active Directory i.e. Sites and Services, Global Catalog, Security policies, FSMO roles, Group Policy, DNS, NAP, DHCP.etc
• Cisco routers, ASA firewalls, Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers, VLANs, switch configuration, HSRP, Spanning-tree, IP Routing
• Thorough understanding of the OSI model and how it applies to network devices.
• Basic Knowledge of Database Administration

Additional Information Relevant to This Position: The following are helpful but not required:

• SharePoint 2010, 2013 administration, SQL query language, SSIS, CRM system certification or experience, ERP management experience, Manufacturing environment experience, SAP experience, IP phone systems experience.

Standard days and hours: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm with occassional overtime as needed.
