PBB Duties and Responsibilities
  1. *Serves as an IT Specialist in direct support of Student Housing Services (SHS) at the Manoa Campus.
  2. *Works with the SHS users and/or stakeholders to gather and document their requirements. Validates compliance with state/federal laws, regulations and UH policies working closely with the unit.
  3. Creates queries to analyze and interpret data based on the user's requirements.
  4. Ensures the technical solution meets the needs of the unit and their objectives.
  5. *Installs, configures, maintains, troubleshoots, servers mainly in a virtual server computing environment running in-house or 3rd party applications. Works with UHM ITS to configure application requiring network and firewall settings.
  6. *Ensures that the systems are running securely and backups are completed as scheduled. Must be available off-hours, including evenings, weekends and/or holidays to troubleshoot systems if needed.
  7. *General awareness applying application change management procedures.
  8. *Designs, develops, tests, and documents scripts and routines as needed for enhancing and automating application per user requirements.
  9. *Researches 3rd party software solutions; participates in the implementation and maintenance of the system.
  10. Ensures training materials are provided, classes are scheduled and training is conducted for the appropriate users.
  11. *Ensures compliance with ITS Information Security Office's policy; manages data governance requirements and ensures adherence to securing FERPA, PII, HIPAA and other categories of data confidentiality requirements.
  12. *Provides technical assistance for assigned areas and identifies, analyzes, and resolves/troubleshoots issues.
  13. *Assists with web site content edits as needed working closely with the unit. Ensures adherence to ADA compliance.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

PBB Minimum Qualifications
  1. Possession of a pertinent baccalaureate educational degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or Business Administration or related field and 3 years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience with responsibilities for application and system administration, security and system integration in a large organization, of which 2 years of the experience must have been comparable in scope and complexity to the next lower payband in the University of Hawai'i broadband system; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques in the area of functional application support, security, project management disciplines as demonstrated by the broad knowledge and understanding of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving information technology concepts, principles and methodology.
  3. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of the broad technology, systems, hardware and software associated with systems integration and data management.
  4. Demonstrated ability to recognize a wide range of intricate problems, use reasoning and logic to determine accurate causes, and apply principles and practices to determine, evaluation, integrate, and implement practical and thorough solutions in an effective and timely manner.
  5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
  7. If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
  8. Experience managing complex applications and related system integration points that are in alignment with the requirements of the Student Housing unit.
  9. General knowledge of API's, automated scripts, and leveraging SFTP to integrate with other systems.
  10. Experience with generating data extracts and reports for analysis by business units' employees.
  11. Demonstrated knowledge of data security disciplines and overall information technology cybersecurity best practices.
  12. Knowledge of FERPA, HIPPA and PII requirements.
  13. Possesses excellent communication skills.
  14. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, key stakeholders, Student Housing employees, and other users of Student Housing computer services and facilities.
  15. Experience with managing 3rd party vendors to ensure upkeep of applications and infrastructure.
  16. Experience with creating user guides and providing training to end users.
  17. Experience with desktop installations, connectivity and overall troubleshooting support.
  18. Ability to work outside of normal business hours including evening, weekends, and/or holidays.

  7. Experience with content management systems, with demonstrated ability to analyze and improve user engagement.

  9. Working knowledge of system administration, systems management, webmaster, security and software programming inclusive of understanding and practicing coding standards and best practices.
