Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer (Hybrid)
Salary Range: $118,520-135,000
About the Position
The Sr. Systems Engineer is responsible for Enterprise-level network management and administration of all Seattle Goodwill computer Local Area Networks, Wide-Area Networks, network infrastructure, hardware, software, telecommunications and IT staff guidance. Research, design, implement and support complex IT Servers and Systems. Responsible for working with application stakeholders to design and implement solutions related to integrations into Seattle Goodwill systems. Also responsible for various aspects of infrastructure management including implementation, maintenance, performance monitoring and capacity planning, troubleshooting, security, support, etc. Assist IT staff with infrastructure support as necessary. Assume responsibility for the department in absence of the Enterprise Infrastructure Manager.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
  • Responsible for primary support of Seattle Goodwill's networking equipment (Cisco, Juniper, SonicWall VPN, and Meraki).
  • Install, configure and upgrade and enhancements to software/hardware/network systems.
  • Plan, design and implementation of system engineering projects.
  • Research and recommend emerging technologies and solutions and advise IT management accordingly.
  • Design solutions to technical problems and implementation of new systems or infrastructure changes.
  • Monitor critical systems and take corrective actions prior to failures.
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware failures and identify network problems.
  • Establish and maintain security and integrity controls, manage change management process.
  • Coordinate with security engineer to remediate security vulnerabilities, ensure compliance with PCI requirements, and assume job functions in case of absence of the security engineer.
  • Assist the Security Engineer investigate security breaches and coordinate response activities to minimize impact.
  • Participate in after-hours upgrades, troubleshooting, and/or on-call availability as needed.
  • Standard system administration duties including server install, system/application install and patch management, Windows problem determination and resolution, log analysis, etc.
  • Provide infrastructure services in all areas needed: storage networking, operating system, network security, directory services, server virtualization using system backup and restore, system and network monitoring, application installation and configuration.
  • Assist People Relations in internal investigations, perform eDiscovery for email, files, etc., and perform litigation holds.
  • Demonstrates safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned including internal projects.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent IT work experience.
  • 10+ years' experience in systems and network administration.
  • 10+ years' experience directly administering and supporting Microsoft Window Server 2008/2012/2016/2019.
  • Experience with high availability and multi-site environments.
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently.
  • Ability to talk about technology issues, using a non-technology vocabulary.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and develop solutions.
  • Good communication skills, able to work independently and the ability to multi-task required. Ability to be flexible when faced with changing work circumstances.
  • Able to recognize and embrace change as the external environment and organization
  • Ability to express complex data in layman's terms, both verbally and in writing

Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations: N/A
Computer/Technology Skills:
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, SQL, DNS, DHCP, SharePoint 2007/2013, IAM, Clustering, IIS, GPO's, and Windows Scripting/PowerShell.
  • Experience with virtualization software: VMware, VSphere.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange 2007/2010/2013/Exchange Online.
  • Working knowledge of network technologies: Cisco OS/IOS platforms, SonicOS, Juniper EX/XR, Cisco, and Meraki.
  • Working knowledge of cloud technologies (Azure, Office 365, Dynamics 365, Meraki).
    • Proficiency level of knowledge with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to learn new technology and software as related to the job.

Physical Abilities
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required sit for long periods of time, communicate with other employees by talking and hearing, required to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds and to operate computer systems. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills. Maintain reliable attendance.
